(23:19 on Sun 07/Dec/03) The above website is out of date. Since this October the 101 office block in Taipei is the world's tallest building at 1,667 feet, depriving the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpa of that title.

(01:55 on Tue 09/Dec/03) Scurb all the above, because as of early next year the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan will be the tallest structure, building, whatever of any description, anywhere in the world.

(14:04 on Wed 10/Dec/03) The present tallest structure is the KTHI - TV Tower in North Dakota at 629 m, but the Australians are building a solar tower in the middle of the Outback which will be a whopping 1,000metres high when completed about 2007- twice the height of the CN Tower.

(00:25 on Fri 03/Sep/04) The KVLY-TV mast (formerly the KTHI-TV mast)transmitting tower in North Dakota North Dakota at 2063' (628m) it is the tallest man-made land-based structure in the world. Only the water-supported Petronius Platform The Petronius Platform is a deepwater oil rig operated by ChevronTexaco and Marathon Oil in the Gulf of Mexico, 210 km South-east of New Orleans. A compliant piled tower design, it is 610 m (2,001 feet) high, the tallest free-standing structure in the world (when including underwater structures). (See also: World's tallest structures.) It is 2,100 ft (640 m) to the top of the spire, which makes it taller than all structures but a few TV masts. The multi-deck topsides are 64 m by 43 m by 18.3 m high and hold 21 well slots, the entire structure weighs around 43,000 tons. Around 8,000 m (50,000 barrels) of oil and 2,000,000 m (70 million cubic feet) of natural gas are extracted daily by the rig.
