This is something that has been argued about for ages. Colchester (Camulodunum) was the capital city of England before London, and is widely recognised as the oldest city in Britain. There are other claims from Exeter, York and Ripon. Hope that someone can provide a definative answer for you.
Colchester (Britain's oldest city dating from AD 49 Wroxeter 4th oldest.. still looking for 2&3.. :-)
