Hi,

I'm thinking about going to Dublin with my husband for my Birthday in August.

Can anyone recommend any good hotels/B&B that are reasonabally priced (ie Cheap)?

Also - is it a good place to visit? We're we thinking 2 nights midweek.

Thanks

A xXx

I Went earlier this year and it was fantastic..lovely people great night life, id advise anyone to go.

I stayed at the Camden Court Hotel and was relativley cheap and really nice, here is a link to the website

my dads just come back after a weekend away, he said he stayed in a bb on the outskirts of dublin which made it slightly cheaper but the bus servcie was excellant, clean on time cheap etc and dropped them in the centre. they had an excellent time and lots to do for all ages
My mate and I stayed at Trinity College in September 2001. They let some of the rooms out of term time, so August ought to be okay. It's B&B, with breakfast in the campus canteen. The cost was about 30 euros per person per night, and you're in one of the best locations for the night life.
Dublin is a fantastic place to visit, but it isnt cheap. There is also the stag night presence, but as you will be going mid-week you should remain unaffected by that. I am half oirish and for a trip to Dublin I would still recommend the touristy area of Temple Bar for the evening. Its worth booking a table at Boxty Gallaghers for some good food and I can recommend the open top tour bus to enable you to see the general sites of the city and to get your bearings.

You can stop off at the Guinness brewery during the bus tour, and whilst the museum bit might be a bit on the dull side, you can enjoy a nice pint of Guinness in the Sky Bar before getting the bus back to the Centre. Get off the bus at the Arlington Hotel on the way back (near OConnel Bridge) and pop in for some more Guinness and some live music. They also serve good food. Not sure what the hotel itself is like for cost, but it is in a good location.

St Stephens Green is also nice for a sunny stroll, and as its your birthday I am sure you can convince your husband to buy you something nice on Grafton Street. Have a great time. This is the link for the Arlington which has some good info on its website.

living in dublin myself. i would recommend a B&B in palmerstown called palmerstown lodge

Prime location adjacent to all amenities and facilities this superb purpose-built property adjoins the N4/M50 motorway. Minutes from the city centre and a mere 12 minutes drive to the airport we offer all the features and standards of a luxury hotel. Each elegant en suite bedroom has individual temperature control, ambient lighting, automated door locking system, phone, TV, etc. Separate tea/coffee and iron/trouser press facilities. Private car park. Golf packages available.

the chinese next door is very nice THE FAR EAST. my wife works there. while your over you should try "Chicken Balls". The first time i came over i was like i'm not eating them, But there chicken in a batter shapped like balls. also the chicken salt & chilli is to die for.
hope you enjoy your stay. if you want more on where to go i will help if i can. [email protected]

Hi andrea,
Dublin is great, but not cheap,I live here!
As tourist do the Open Top Bus Tour,it is a get on get off tour so stay on for one circuit and then hop off and on.Go to Trinity Uni to see Book of Kells,National Museum at Collins barracks is also very good,as is national art gallery.Off the beaten track in dublin is Kilmainham Gaol, which is significant in Irish history but well worth a visit. For the evening do the Literary Pub Crawl from the Duke in Duke St,its great fun and not stuffy.Early evening go to st John gogarty pub in temple bar for trad music. Its a great city.
