people that ask a question but cant be bothered to thank people for the answers given, be they correct or in-correct.

Thanks for that funkymoped.
No, its not just you!

Here Here funkymoped. Quite often people go to a lot of trouble Googling to get an answer for someone, which they probably could have found themselves with a little effort.

Val

I'm reasonably new on this site, and haven't been sure what to do about this . When I thanked people I wondered if others would think I was cluttering up the site with too many thankyous. Do you think that this could be the reason with others, also?
thanks
You know what I hate. When people mark other peoples answers but give you no marks yet your answers are funnier.
This is especially annoying in the history section
i will say thanks to you funkymoped cus you gave me 3 stars on your other thread!!............... it means alot!
Its the polite thing to do, Manners
Giving a star rating should be enough rather than cluttering up the board with extra posts - unless there's anything special to add or a followup question of course.

That's all it takes, a star rating to know you have been acknowledged.

I don't always think to say thank you - you've nudged me and I will in future - thanks - Dollie
I don't see how posting a thank you on to the original thread is cluttering the board.

Thank you for the interesting question, funkymoped.
I agree with you funkymoped and others. It makes me mad when members just cant seem to find the time to either give a rating or give a thank you. If I dont answer directly I always leave a rating out of sheer courtesy.
Someone asks a question usually because they are too lazy to look for the answer themselves, and then they cant be bothered to say thanks, Yes it's annoying and I would urge all ABers to make a list of all these ignorant people and not answer any of their questions in future
I must say sometimes i'll post an answer and then i'll be really busy and not have time to go on the internet for a few days/a week but i will eventually go back to the post by which time it may be a few pages from the front and people may no longer be looking at it. This may be the case for other people aswell.

I don't know whether I'm more irritated by people who write a question as "Real name of St Jasper of Carrott" (without a 'Can anyone tell me the...' or a question mark, or a 'please'); or people who don't acknowledge answers - though some may think that a question no longer on the first page has disappeared - or people who put 23 different questions in 23 different posts, or people who give their own questions stars . . .

I've gotta goo now!

KRO

I always try to thank people who have helped me. I think its just polite. How do you rate answers then and what does this do? thanks :)

just a thought, if you say thanks to the people who have answered the question, wont you be in affect closing the question to anymore answers?

I quite agree, funkymoped, especially when, like me, people give what is clearly detailed professional advice.

Well done for raising this point.

Hello All and treacle84, treacle just thought I'd answer your question about rating peoples answers.

when you post up a question and you get lots or even just one answer and you think it's great or naff or anywhere imbetween there is a box on the left of the answerer and it asks 'Rate this question?' and if you click on it, it will show you 3 stars, 2 stars or 1 star and a no rating. You just choose what you like and then press submit and the stars appear by that persons answer........ easy huh?

underneath that is 'Report this answer' in case it is offensive or other to you personally.

Thanks for the post funkymoped, cos it is nice to know your answer has been seen occasionally
