I really want to do something really special for my boyfriend's birthday which falls on a Friday, very soon...

I'd like one of the things we do, is to go out for a posh lunch somewhere in central London (any suggestions)? and then do something afterwards...Basically, I want to make the day really special...Do any of you loveley ABers have any suggestions?

Thank you so much!! xx

I don't know London that well but how about a walk through Hyde Park, a trip on the river or a ride on the London Eye?
The Covent Garden area has always got plenty going on. It's also home to one of the most wonderful restaurants I've ever been to, Sarastro. Contact details are here:
http://www.sarastro-restaurant.com/contact.html

The quality of the food is top-notch (I recommend the Dover sole!) and the prices, relative to the the quality, aren't too bad. The service is excellent from genuinely friendly and helpful staff. If you want to be left alone for some romantic moments with your boyfriend then the staff will give you the privacy you require. (The restaurant is laid out like an opera house - you dine in 'private boxes'). If, on the other hand, you decide to mention that it's your boyfriend's birthday, then all the staff will come to your table to sing 'Happy Birthday' and present a small cake, complete with a candle, to the birthday boy!

(In summary, it's 'posh nosh' but with a far more relaxed atmosphere than some of the 'stuffy' restaurants you can find around the West End).

I'll leave it for others to suggest where you can go afterwards but, if you do go to Sarastro, don't plan on anything too active. I went there, with a friend, for my birthday and, when we left, we were both feeling very 'laid back' :-)

PS: If you take up Sammd's suggestion of the London Eye, you can pre-book here:

PPS: Frog Tours are fun! You get a guided tour around the streets of London in a vehicle which then plunges into the Thames and continues the tour on water! :

Chris, you're an absolute star!! Thank you for your suggestions which sound great!! I'm going to look on the Sarastro link now.

We did the London Eye on New Years Eve, but the frog tour sounds like fun... xxx

Thanks for the message, Anabel.

I've realised that the link I gave for the Sarastro only gives the contact details. This is a better link:
