is there a reason why a lady from malta (Malteser?), would wear her wedding band on her right hand instead of her left?

It varies from country to country.  I believe that, in Germany, the wedding ring is worn on the right hand.

Wikipedia has plenty to say about wedding rings:

hi crisgal, I work with a couple of  people from the phillipines and they wear it on their right hand too
Russians wear wedding rings on their right hand aswell.
So  it sound slike everone is out of step except the UK ans US, mmmm.

In Denmark the ring usually is worn on the right hand and the engagement ring on the left hand, but you can chose yourself. I think that our new Crown Princess wears it on the left

According to a site I found. the engagement ring was on the left hand, because of the thought that there was an arterie running from the left hand to the heart. But because you shook hands over deals with your right hand, the right hand was considered the right hand ;0D and therefore the ring was moved to the right hand when married.

In Spain it was customary to wear the wedding ring on the right hand but think it's either now.
Some divorcees in the UK wear their wedding band on their right finger, perhaps the Maltese do too
