I know this is going to come across as if I am a miserable old woman, well maybe I am. Can anything be done about the posters who post long strings of questions each question consisting of one (usually old or unfunny or both) joke?
They bump down the genuine questions in the new post lists and generally clog up the screen. By me it verges on spamming the site.

Okay MOW rant over

Are they any worse than long lists of "happy birthdays.......how long will this last?........what are you having for lunch?.......

Some are quite funny.
Some people like the jokes. Each to his own?

Indeed each to their own, i do wish though that all the jokes could be put into one or two or even three threads rather than each being posted as a separate question. Its a bit much when you get six or more in a string. sqad, the thread that you mention are only one thread at a time with loads of answers, not many threads
I was about to post this myself!

Its nothing to do with liking the jokes or not and I know people enjoy them but just post them in one thread.

I hear you sister.
If you mean the ones that excel posts for example they are the one place left we can happily practice our wordplay, sarcasm and attempted wit.
As for clogging up latest posts what about the crosswords? Really I don't see any of it as a problem.
Sometimes it is beyond a joke, prudie.

Two latest post boxes would sort this out. One for the lighthearted nonsense and another for the more serious stuff.
Serious stuff???
Ok fair point. I've just looked at jokes, hadn't realised they were all consecutive.
News , Body & soul ...............

Well basically everything except jokes and chatterbank and crosswords.
It used to be the case that if you posted more than 5 threads in a certain timescale, it came to Ed's attention - that facility's gone now.
somebody's going to get upset.
crossword blockage does usually tend to occur at weekends, that's one of the reasons I come on here at weekends, I love the crossword questions
>>>Are they any worse than long lists of "happy birthdays.......how long will this last?........what are you having for lunch?.......

But those questions don't appear on AB's front page anyway, Sqad. (You have to go into Chatterbank, or spot them under 'Latest posts', to find them).

I simply wish that somehow (on an already cluttered front page, I know) the Ed could find separate areas for 'serious' questions and 'non-serious' ones. As it stands, someone considering using this site for the first time (to post a serious question, perhaps about health issues or personal relationships) may well be put off from doing so if the only posts showing on the front page are jokes.

Woofgang's post simply echoes what I've been thinking for quite some time but, like Woofgang, I didn't want to appear grumpy by saying anything about it. Jokes should be retained but should either be given a separate space on the front page or, simpler (like posts in CB), removed from it.

lol Chris, i have no problem with appearing grumpy because I am!!
Question Author
as a mod Chris, are you able to wave this thread under the Ed's nose?
just a suggestion, keep jokes out of latest posts then any of us who enjoy them can just look in Jokes
Does this happen often? Can't say I've noticed it. :o/
It can't be that difficult to do something like this

Serious, slower moving stuff at the top and the fast moving nonsense at the bottom.
