For the last couple of years, I have been using a Macally Cup in order to listen to my 2nd Generation 4GB iPod Nano in my car and it has worked perfectly.

I have now bought a 4th Generation 8GB iPod Nano and it fits into the Macally Cup and works whilst I am in the car with regards to "powering up" and playing my music. However, as soon as I put the iPod into the Cup, I get an on-screen message on my iPod to the effect "This equipment will not charge your iPod". As soon as I remove the iPod from the Cup, it then shows "low battery".

Have I done something wrong or is my version of Cup not designed to charge up a 4th Generation Nano?
