Looking at their website, HSBC 'self service cards' appear to be simply cash machine cards, which permit users to pay in or take out cash, transfer cash between accounts and check balances & statements. They're not debit cards, so they can't be used anywhere other than at cash machines and HSBC's 'self service' machines.
