A Friend of mine has a gold chain which was bought in the middle east - It has no hallmark but has been examined by a local jewellers and he said it was 23 carat.

Obviously, has it has no hallmark, my friend is now puzzling over the best way to sell this chain, have any ab'ers any good advice for me

Could your friend get it in writing from the jeweller that it's 23ct gold? If so, then she could list it on ebay with that as an assurance for the buyer.

Jewellers will only pay scrap value for gold, which isn't very much, even for 23ct, so ebay is probably the best way to go.
