Hi do they have a garden.? prehaps some garden center tokens would be nice. A basket of fruit. A homemade food hamper with things that they would really like. You can get small tins of fruit as they are just right for a couple to eat at once.Biscuits, jam, honey there are loads of things you could get. New slippers, dressing gowns. smellies. hope that has been some help. Brenda x
They must do something at home.

Do they watch videos/DVDs? Or read books? Or maybe there's a magazine subscription they'd like.
I.ve found that older people really like talking about the weather etc, so one of these radio controlled wireless weather stations which will tell you the temperature outside and many other things might suit, if they garden this will help them as well , some of them are very expensive, but you can get them for about 25 not sure what your budget is
http://www.homecomingwales.com/news_detail.php ?nID=108 I am really enjoying this CD not quite their age yet but I think they would enjoy it. I am getting my husband the Bobby Thompson video he tells it like it was back in the old days.
You can have calendars made up with your own photos - I had one done for my elderly dad a few yeas ago with loads of old family photos - even old/faded/ black&white etc. He loved it. Think lots of places do them now- try a google search. You need to get 12 photos together and it costs about 20. Hope that helps.
IF i was in my 70s id be happy to see my grand children on xmas day material things dont compare to a visit .
I've bought the in-laws a book of photos from the 50's of the town they're from. I've bought my Auntie a Peoples Friend annual.
I once made Mr Spudqueens Gran a food hamper, with lots of tins of fishy type things as that was what she liked.
Or how about a bird table with some bird food to get them started?

Adopt a duck from the Wetlands Trust, or an animal from one of the many rescues - adopters get a certificate & often updates on their animal during the year.
