Special gift wrap
10 Answers
I always like to make an effort when it comes to wrapping gifts, I actually enjoy it a little too much lol. But am sick of seeing the same stuff in all the shops which isn't quite good enough or what I am looking for. I have bought my sister something special for christmas and want a gift box and wrap for it thats luxurious - the best word that comes to mind. Can anyone suggest a website where I can find a good range of quality wrap and especially gift boxes and bags?
Thanks

Try the book people. At school they send us books (obviously) but sometimes they send reallly nice wrapping paper and cards, a bit like recycled, you know with all the flecks and stuff. Doesn't sound good but it is when you see it. I love to buy the tatty teddy wrapping paper and bags, and ribbon and tissue paper. oooohhh i coud go on forever.
Hello Greedyfly.
You could buy a standard gift box and cover it in a 'luxurious' fabric and decorate it with ribbon, feathers, etc.
You can buy some lovely things to cover and decorate gift boxes from haberdasherers and craft shops.
You could choose exact co-ordinating colours to match the gift, or her bedroom, if she is going to keep the box for trinkets, etc!

I love to wrap nicely, but only the year before last managed to curl ribbons, put in gift boxes etc, left it too late last year. I'm going for it this year, but I have the opposite problem, my son now 14yrs associates his main present with a certain red wrapping paper with a father christmas printed on it, since remembering getting his best present one year as a small child in this. So every year he asks for it for his main present. For years now I've picked it up no problem in david fox or the town stall traders, but they've gone all cheap "upmarket patterns" rather than the traditional tat (which is what he wants) I couldn't find it last year, I hope it's out there this year. I might try ebay, have you? I always think tissue paper is good as well, underneath the main wrap.
This year I'll be nicking an idea from a gorgeous little giftshop in Amsterdam. They wrapped my purchases in bright tissue paper, placed a small token on the top (ie. metalic conffetti, glitter, small butterfly toy thingy, contrasting coloured feather) then wrapped it up again in cellophane. Looked amazing.
Erm.... Cannot say where to buy good Paper from but carrying on from Fee's Post - my Partner got a Florist to Gift Wrap a Teddy for my Valentine's Present as something a bit different - how they do Flowers with all the Coloured Celophane and Floaty Ribbons - he did have to Pay for it though.
The only other thing I can think of is try getting a Scout Catalogue - they have lovely Paper in there and some of the Money they make goes to Scout Groups - have a Chat with your Local Group and see if they are doing the Catalogue.

Have you also considered using fabric for wrapping? My sister does that sometimes and it is always beautiful.

Greedyfly - I went back and looked at the Star website and no I don't think you are dense it just isn't a very good website in my opinion - but I did click on Contacts at the top of the page and then it gave me - on the left hand side of the page - a Catalogs button to click on where you can type in your name and address and get 4 different catalogs. Apparently they are a mail order operation. I hope this helps and that you find exactly what you want!!!
