I don't really know what you can do, but surely for that amount of money the seller should have got proof of postage. As it stands, it's your word against theirs.Hope it turns up soon.

did you pay with paypal???? If there wasnt enough postage then it would have still come to your house, you would have just had to pay!!
If you paid with paypal get in touch an tell them, you should get your cash back.....
Well the mistake was sending it by normal post, if she had sent it special delivery it would not have cost that much and it would have been insured. I would say that if you accepted that method of postage then the seller has done her bit, I do hope you manage to get it sorted.
Oh just re-read it .. she has not got a receipt, well then that is a different matter, she could just be making the whole thing up. I am sure any normal person posting a 480 camera would get some sort of proof of postage, I would pull out all the stops and contact e bay and paypal if you used them. What was their rating on ebay, if it was ebay, you don't say in your post.

this is a scam.

if you post a parcel, you have to take it into the post office as it won't fit in the box.
they will automatically weigh it - they won't just let you guess at the price!
and they also automatically give you a receipt.

it is also her responsibility to trace the parcel (if she did send it which i doubt)
she made a contract with the royal mail that they will carry her package to its recipient, so until it is in your hands it is her package. she must recover it and if necessary make a claim to them

you need to be firm with her - who in their right mind sends a 480 camera without any kind of care?

she is trying it on

i would suggest looking up on the royal mail what they have to say about this kind of thing, and send the info to her. if she realises you are not going to give up and know the law she may miraculously find it or refund you

did she put a return address on the package?

whatever she did it is her negligence and stupidity that have lost it and thats not your fault.

incidentally, just in the unlikely even that she is telling the truth, the mail don't class a package as missing until 15 days - have you contaced your local sorting office?
she sounds a dumb so may have addressed it wrongly or its illegible
