Is that an extended warranty most electrical goods come with a years warranty and they offer an extended warranty usually for a further two years for a fee. I wouldn't buy from a place that doesn't have a standard one year warranty

If you want to take out an extended warranty, shop around on the internet for the best price. I get really annoyed when I buy something, only to told about extended warranties. They are a big con and are pushed because of commission for the sales staff. When I buy something like you have described, I make a point of saying that I don't want an extended warranty before they get a chance to ask!

Hi brinjal it is an extended warranty, goods have one year guarantee it is Currys we are buying from.

What make & how much is it? How much and how long is the warranty?

I would never take the extended warranty that I had to pay for, from a retailer - they only push them as they are highly profitable to them.
Have a look at John Lewis, they give a free two year guarantee. |

Asda used to offer 3 years as standard on its electrical goods. However, that stopped quite a while ago:

This "pushing" of extended warranties is just one of several reasons I won't go to Currys (or use PCWorld). John Lewis is a much better place for all these purchases.

I personally would not buy an extended warranty, the sale of goods act is adequate cover, check it out.

In Europe all electrical goods come with a 2 year guarantee whatever the shop says, this is fact and extended warranties are not advised by Which mag.

Never buy and extended warranty. They never pay out anyway and with modern goods if they last the manufacturers guarantee then they'll go on and on. It always makes me luagh when the sales person tells you how wonderful the item is, then when you agree to buy they have to try and sell you an exetended warranty. "So are you saying this is not reliable then" - " err no err splutter........", gets them evey time.

I tend to buy from John Lewis as they often give exteded warranty for free on their electrical items and they have a price promise if you find the good cheaper elsewhere. I also found that their delivery is excellent as well as you can often get your goods the next day
