Never been out with a silver spoon. Now there's a thought. Comments?
I had one in my mouth when I was born daisy but someone nicked it.....
Your poor Mama!
Lol!
Any chance you could photograph the marks and post a pic on here? What type of spoon is it? Teaspoon, grapefruit, dessert, serving etc?

Sounds to me as if it could be american by AHF & Co and it is plate rather than silver but without seeing the marks its not possible to say. Certainly I can't find those marks in my little bible.

Is there an assay mark at all? Ie something like a castle or a lion's head?
Can't find it in my book of English marks either nor in Sheffield plate marks probably American.

I have made out some more writing on the spoon and it says 'madras silver'. Does that shed any light on the subject? Thank you
Once came across a vase with Ming on the base after washing it found it was made in Germany .Oh well
Or that vase that had Ming on it. When it was cleaned, it said BirMINGham.
If it says on it 'Madras Silver' then there's every reason to believe that it was made in Madras during the period of the British Raj in India.(1858-1947)

Sorry I can't be any more helpful at this stage, which really requires a good internet search.

Ron.
Oops, I though you had been out with someone from the aristocracy. I was wrong.
AHF spoons are being sold on E/Bay.
