Do they only sell olive oil in bottles in the supermarkets or can you buy it in big cans. Also, Can you buy the supermarkets own brand? Here in Greece you would think olive oil is cheap to buy but it is not!

Sainsbury do their own brand and you can get a 2 litre tin. They may do bigger, but I have not seen one.
You can get cans in supermarket but not sure if they as big as you are meaning. I can get larger ones in nearby Arabic/Asian shops
Gosh, you'd have to be drinking a lot of it to get through that much.

It's more usual to see it in bottles though, although I'm sure I've seen tins in the, for want of a better phrase, foreign food aisles, or specialist shops.

As for price, depends on the required quality. I recall a time when the only olive oil you could buy was only fit for filling your ear with.
In Asda they sold this inferior 5 lr olive/pomace oil for £6.50

the massive tesco stores now do a 'catering size' aisle. sacks of rice - large tins toms and coconut milk etc. I'm pretty sure I've seen it there.

Thanks for all your answers.
Asian and ethnic shops sell them. I buy them often and they cost about 8 quid (ish) and wayyyyy cheaper than buying lots of piddling little bottles at supermarkets.
