OH and I were just having a conversation about this coming Christmas and what we think we should spend on Jnr, who will be just over 10 months by then. I'm personally of the belief we should put the money in his Junior ISA instead.

He then asked me what I would want, if I could choose anything. When I told him a thatched cottage, a range rover and a Kenwood Chef he simply told me he would buy me a "Unique Horn" instead. I mean, I'm really not musical if you get my drift. Odd, or what?

So... what's the strangest thing anyone's ever bought you and what would be 1, 2 and 3 on your wish list of material presents?

I think he may have meant Unicorn, implying you have no chance of getting what you asked for.
Seriously?

I am just pleased to wake up in the morning and really want for nothing in material terms.

But I am quite old ;)

JD... thanks for ruining the joke. This was just a lighthearted post with a lighthearted but genuine question at the end.
Sorry. Thought you had genuinely misheard.

Hey, don't worry about it.

I'm genuinely interested to hear replies to my two questions...
Your use of the C word in April might deter some people. LOL.
I was given a balloon flight when I was in my 50's (but I didn't use it).
Hey NOM if you need any tips on jokes...dont see me ;-)
Don't do xmas so can't help sorry xx
I never bought my kids presents until they were old enough to appreciate them.

This Easter is the first time I've ever bought them an egg. All their life my dad, mum, and aunts/uncles bought them. My dad is dead and my mum went to Thailand with her brother and sister.

But back to the question, I wouldn't buy him anything. My youngest has a vague memory from when he was 3. The other 2 don't remember starting school.

I just bought stuff here and there.
I have never had any really strange gifts although my late DH used to buy me really good penknives and tools which I loved. About the only material thing I would like is to move to a secluded bungalow with some land.
my daughter is six and has not yet realised i did not get her a birthday present this month
my husband bought me an illuminated globe once
//So... what's the strangest thing anyone's ever bought you and what would be 1, 2 and 3 on your wish list of material presents?//
Not the strangest thing NoM but the best thing, a flying lesson. Took it from Blackpool airport, loved it.
1, 2 & 3 would probably be
An air balloon ride,
A glider ride,
Another ride in a helicopter.
Im an *Air person*
NoM... forget the isa. I have photos of my eleven month old opening her Christmas presents. She was taken into hospital later that day and may not have survived....had she not I would have nice memories....sad but nice. Just have fun and make memories...x

Gness, the way we see it, it's his education that will carry him through life, not toys, nor fancy clothes he'll wear once or twice at a push.

Funny that people mention balloon flights. I was obsessed with taking one and finally did so on 17 June last year. OH took me to Birmingham to pick my engagement ring, we had a late lunch in Henley-in-Arden and a balloon flight at 7pm from Stratford-upon-Avon. It was a scorching hot day and I was in the early stages of my pregnancy.

It was a perfect take-off but a bumpy landing.
Do both, NoM...we did....just don’t let fun take second place....x
I'm terrified of heights...but a balloon ride would be on my list also.
If money were no object, a very ancient house...beams, fireplaces, funny angles...in excellent condition. ;-)

I'm in the "make the most of baby's first Christmas " corner. It won't happen again. The ISA will still be there.

We're in Weymouth for one night and internet signal is rather hit and miss.
Strangest...don’t think I’ve had one yet.

An Audi R8
A lottery win
A nice comfy chair
the problem with putting money in a junior isa for education is that they belong to the child at 18 - they are perfectly entitled to take the whole lot out and spend it on a holiday or cocaine
Strangest thing (s) was a Christmas present, a can of de-icer and an hatchet. Lovely gift wrapping though.
1 ) Aston Martin DB5
2 ) Aston Martin DB9
3 ) Can of Swarfega ( I'm easily pleased ).
