It's my Grandparents 60th wedding anniversary this weekend, has anyone got any ideas for a present for them? 60 years is diamond, but I can't really afford one of them. They have everything they could possibly need. What on earth could I buy them? I really want something imaginative. They are both very young at heart. Any suggestions?

Jo,

Are you by any chance anywhere near the Bluewater Shopping Centre?(If you are you wont need telling where it is!) They had a Swarovski(sp) Crystal Shop, and have lots of special pieces.Whilst these are not diamonds, they sparkle like them.If you are not near Bluewater, most of the big Department Stores carry a range.

This Link list all their own shops in the UK:~

This link will take you their online shop, and you can see if you like them.(They are not to everyone's taste!)

There's some good ideas at the following link (if it doesn't work try going to the www.marriage.about.com home page and follow the wedding anniversary link.  One of the suggestions is to make up a CD of music which was around the year they got married.

There is also a rose bush called Diamond Anniversary. which, if you Google about, you should find a supplier for.

Also, it's possible to get a telegram from the Queen for Diamond Anniversaries although if it's this weekend, there won't be time to organise it before then.  However, I think that even if you did apply now, one would still be sent to your grandparents even if it was a few weeks late.  I did this for my parents last year and although I wanted it to be a surprise, I had to let my Dad in on it because I needed a copy of their marriage certificate and passports to send off with the application.  It was still a big surprise for my Mum though!
