Muslim Veils

I have noticed there seems to be a new trend for young muslim women / girls to wear very padded veils
Is this a fashion thing or is there a particular reason for them

when you say "veils" do you mean the veil covering the face, leaving the eyes free - the niqab - or the head covering? There's no apparent reason that I know, but there are many styles - many Muslim ladies I know wear all sorts of headgear as long as it's modest and covers the hair.
I have noticed they use the side of the material round the face to tuck a mobile phone into. Diy handsfree.

No the head covering not the niqab
It used to be quite tightly worn around the head and now I see young women with very elaborate ones on
Its a fashion thing apparently ... a friend tells me it is to give the impression you have a lot of long hair hidden beneath... I don't know if she is winding me up though Some of them are huge
