Seasonal Comic relief appeal ...

Having just donated my annual humble amount of what I could afford after watching some heartbreaking footage on the BBC.I was wondering (without being nosey, because its a private&personal thing) how could the general public be Reassured that the millionaire celebrities (i.e.Jonathan Ross) who present the appeal programme are giving ANYTHING out of their personal fortunes? I am NOT bieng bitchy here,I just think it would be so nice if they could be seen to be leading by example....

I'm a bit vague about this, but I read somewhere not long ago that the man who plays the part of the father in the Royle Family gave a million pounds of his personal cash to a charity without publicising it. Apparently he is a very modest person. Now there is a chap I could admire. Can't remember the full details unfortunately.
