Can anyone help my with a query? I booked a holiday to go to america a while ago, i had paid a deposit at the time, now due to unforscene circumstances i am unable to afford to pay for the rest of the holiday, does anyone know if i would be able to a) change the date to next year? b) possibly change it to a cheaper holiday?

Ask the tour operator - some will let you do this with no charge, others will do it for a fee and still others will make you start again from scratch, retaining your deposit. You really can't generalise.

So you've entered a contract, and now you want to change the deal?
How would it be if the other party decided that THEY wanted to change the deal?
What if the holiday company called you and said they,d moved your holiday to a different date? Or transferred you to a different hotel?
You'd say Sorry, we have a booking.
