Seasonal Scarecrow Festival

The Flamstead Scarecrow Festival is to be held next week on 17, 18 & 19 August. Flamstead is just a couple of miles along the A5 towards Dunstable from J9 on the M1. All the details are here (scroll down a little). It's great fun in a very pretty and scenic area.

Hi Evorg - we shall be going along again at the weekend - it was brilliant last time too.

It's only up the road from where we live - do you live near to Flamstead village too?

P.S. If you feel a bit peckish after the Festival, there's an excellent fish & chip shop in the nearby village of Markyate.

Hello smudge.

I'm about 650 feet up in the Chilterns about 6 miles from Flamstead. Weather permitting (what a horrible day today!) we shall go to Flamstead on Saturday and then to Woburn for the Tiger Moth's on Sunday.

The Fish and Chip Shop at Markyate has saved me a lot of cooking over the years!!!

Best wishes.

Evorg, we didn't end up going to the festival due to the awful weather!

Ne'er mind, there's always next year - weather pemitting.....

Hello smudge. We set off for Flamstead on Saturday in light rain thinking that our coats would be enough but when we got there it simply poured down so we drove through the village and came home !!! Sunday of course was a complete washout, so no Woburn. A couple of the youngsters were going to a Jazz Lunchtime Picnic in a village near you called Kensworth but that was also washed out.

Changing the subject I see from your local paper that Mickey Rooney is coming to do a "This was my life" at your local theatre. Shades of Freddie Bartholemew and Little Lord Fauntleroy !! Takes you back a bit - he must be pretty ancient now - worse than me in fact !!! Think I'll wait for Ken Dodd !!

Best wishes.
