Why don't they make toilets with a wider bit at the bottom so the skiddies don't hit the sides? Is there a technical reason? Fed up of having to clean the bog every time. Discuss.
If they were wider to get a reasonable slope they would also need to be much higher. Imagine the problems a short person would have. Poor Gness would get altitude sickness
But why are they not wider on the way down? If they were as wide as the level where the water is there would be less surface for the *** to hit the sides. Wouldn't make the water area any bigger.
You need to spend more money and get a British pan... Old style with a large cistern.
The new pans are all water efficient types that only hold 6 litres and give a much lighter flush.
Smaller flush means narrower 'S bend' needed in pan to clear your deposits!
Time for lunch after that!
Have had many encounters with that shelf, Chinajan, when in Germany - but they have a lot lower incidence of bowel cancer as they can see blood or anything else untoward in their stools. We're just too squeamish to look or talk about it.
We've come a long way toilet-wise.
No toilets - do it in a field. Still widespread in many countries
Bucket toilets emptied weekly into a midden truck (nice job!). My Gran had that.
Communal toilets shared by slum houses.
Long drop - outside, emptied periodically into the sewer via a tippler mechanism. Our first house had that.
Inside with water flush is LUXURY!
We have a beautiful Victorian WC pan which has the 'inspection shelf' as already mentioned; this can cope with whatever is dropped into it.
We also have 2 other modern WC's; one is attached to a macerator and only ever is used for 'spending a penny' purposes; and the other has a dual-flush which can often need a couple of flushes to clear properly.
We clean our WCs after use and I think any visitors using them do the same.
