I have a recipe for Chicken Liver Pate which asks for Anchovy Essence but I have trawled my local supermarkets & can only find Anchovy paste would using this be ok ???
I wouldn't - it just won't have the same depth of flavour and will add a funny texture. Most supermarkets do stock anchovy essence, though - it's usually with the tomato ketchups and Lea and Perrins ....
