We always did because we used to have a huge joint of rib on the bone at Christmas and cook the Yorkshire round the joint. Now there's only two of us we have sirloin steak with mushroom, cream, garlic and brandy sauce. Yorkshire pudding wouldn't work well. I haven't made Yorkshire pudding for years.
You have some Irish in you, Bobbi. I never cease to be amazed when I am in Ireland that roast/boiled/mashed potatoes are offered on menus. My best friend always avails herself of at least 2!!!
Can I get horseradish sauce to accompany roast beef? Not blooming likely ;)
I only have yorkies with roast beef. You must forgive my up-bringing ;)
I've never made yorkshire pudding with other roasts, or had mashed potatoes and roasties, but years ago most people did and bread sauce as well. And at my grandparents there was always turkey, pork and gammon!
Yes Choux, we should eat what right for us. For me yorkshire needs beef gravy. And to be honest, beef is the only meat I really like. In fact it stops me being a vegetarian!!
Yorkshire’s (my own of course) creamy mash, roasties dipped in semolina before roasting, baby carrots, Brussels sprouts , pigs in blankets ( yuk)stuffing balls ( still yuk ) slices of tender Turkey and a slice of roast beef too , cranberry or horse radish
Made all my cranberry sauce yesterday, today I put some in kilner jars for presents and the rest is bagged up in the freezer. That will see me through the next 12 months until I can get more fresh fruit. I am a happy bunny :)
Oh dear...looks like we don't agree Lottie. Much as I like the *look* of some rare beef, or sometimes a tender stew...beef pretty much leaves me cold. I can remember being left at the dining table as a child with cold congealed meat staring at me.
