Mass = 500N ÷ g.
I'll use g (acc due to gravity) as 10 m/s² (change it to 9.8 if you prefer)
So mass = 50 (kilograms)

Density = mass ÷ volume, so volume = mass ÷ density
Volume = 50 ÷ 0.5 = 100 m³

Anyway, I thought you always answered your own questions straight after posting them.
Not quite, factor30. You correctly calculate the mass of the body as being around 50kg. However, the question specified that the *relative* density of the body is 0.5 i.e. its density is half that of water. The latter is ca. 1000kg/m³ . If we plug in the numbers, the volume of the body turns out to be 1m³ .
That should have read 0.1m³, not 1m³. Mea culpa.
Well spotted- I thought it seemed a large volume.
Are you trying to establish the volume of a person? 50kg is approximately the mass of an 11 year old child or a size zero model (are you one of these, titanium-micky?), but the relative density of the human body is 1.04.
