Coniston Shoreline

I have just enjoyed two days in Coniston, Cumbria, and am curious to know whether the shoreline of the lake is natural? If this is the case can anybody tell me of any interesting mineral/fossils/artifacts that are to be found there?

Also, does anybody know of any good websites that I can refer to in order to improve my rock identification skills?

(Thu 10:21 25/Jun/09) Firstly hope you enjoyed your time here in the lakes. I'm lucky enough to live here and can tell you most of conistons shoreline is natural, obviously some parts are not. boat launches etc.
