i know that its an indicator of somesorts but is it the same as universal indcator and if its not what is it?
I seem to remember that the spelling is phenolphthalein.

Also I think that where litmus paper and phenolphthalein have one state for acid and another for alkali a universal indicator can indicate how acidic or alkaline something is by moving through a continuous spectrum of colout from ph 1 to ph 14
