my machine doesnt really seem to get my washing clean. i use tesco own brand non bio powders and am reluctant to change as i have excema and alot of powders dont suit me. even my lodger has commented that my machine doesnt seem to clean as it should. anyone got any ideas, like does it need a new part? or is it blocked somewhere? ive noticed very occasionally the fabric conditioner doesnt get taken from its compartment during the course of the cycle.

The fabric conditioner compartment not emptying means your jets are blocked.

Take the drawer out, dismantle it and wash in hot soapy water. I use a bottle brush as it can get in the nooks and crannies.

Now clean the drawer cavity - go back as far as you can. The bottle brush is good here too. Feel along the top of the cavity for the jets - clean this as best as you can. I use a strong plastic toothpick.

My guess is though that your washing powder is not up to the job. It's difficult when you have excema - try washing at a higher temperature.
After giving your washing machine the above recommended clean (that reminds me it's a while since I've done mine!) if your washing still isn't brilliant then you may consider trying a washing powder from Boots. Sorry I can't remember the name of it (it may even be a Boots own) but my Mum always used this. She had urticaria and found that this was the best for her.
Surcare is for sensitive skin and is unperfumed. They make a conditioner as well. You can find it in Tesco.
Washing powders usually dont just stop washing. My washer did this. Put it on a real hot wash and make sure the door gets hot. The problem with mine was the heating element so it was washing everything cold. The cleaning thing above is a good idea too. Once you have done that put it on a boil wash empty and it will rinse out all the old soap scum that may be hanging around. Those are the 2 things the engineer told me to try as they are common stuff. Failing that it is a repair man job. Good luck.

thankyou all for your answers, at least there are a couple of things i can try before going to the expense of a repair man.
