The media has managed to scare so many people from quitting their vapes and going back on the cigs, that there is a media article about it.

Should the media be liable for the impressions they give?

We all know vaping is safer than smoking.

But is it safe per se ?

We know smoking can lead to heart disease and various cancers, but we don't know what (if any) long-term health consequences vaping might have.

"But is it safe per se ?"

Considering how many people have died from smoking compared to vaping, yes.

But over a very log period? Who knows.. that's part of the issue.

But the amount of known carcinogenics in cigarettes compared to vaping is extortionate. Going from that Vaping must be more healthy.
I don't think we know the long-term effects of vaping yet. My guess is that it probably is safer than cigarettes... and as the majority of vapers are non-smokers, any improvement is good. Obviously, the healthiest thing would be to not smoke anything- but I appreciate that isn't as easy as it sounds.

"long-term health consequences vaping might have."

Or potential benefits.
"Are ex-smokers"... sorry.
Safer than smoking cigarettes, but not entirely safe.

Any stimulant, nicotine, caffeine etc will increase your heart rate. You would need to be moderate with both, if that is a problem.

For a smoker, vaping may be a healthier choice, but for a non-smoker? Probably healthier to do neither.

Caffine is much more dangerous than people think
What has caffeine to do with smoking ?
I mentioned caffeine, Danny, after reading your link x
I am a former smoker who struggled to quit.
I switched to Vaping (and vaping-only).
I then found it far easier to quit vaping.
Who knows how my respiratory health will be in the future but I suspect any damage will have been caused by the nicotine *not* the vaping.
Pixie, can't find it mentioned in the link?
I don't think nicotine itself does much harm, jth, except in overdose (and what doesn't...).
Danny...//Nicotine, while highly addictive, is not a significant health hazard for people without heart conditions. It does not cause acute cardiac events or coronary heart disease, and is not carcinogenic. But nicotine is a problem for people with heart disease. It raises the heart rate, contradicting the goal of most treatments. Tell your GP if you have heart disease and are using nicotine replacement.//
Nicotine is a stimulant, as is caffeine.
jth, I also stopped smoking, after 54 years, but the damage was already done. My advice to anyone who is thinking of starting to smoke is don't not even vaping.
Pixie, thanks for that, I thought I was having a senior moment and missed it in the link :-)
No, Danny... just my logic :-) xx
Only fools get scared back to smoking. Now scared back to patches and nicotine chewing gum, that's a different matter.
