I have Windows 7 Home Premium and Excel 97 and want to move some files from one shortcut (File 1 to another File 2) on the desktop all the files are .xls. To delete them is easy, just right click on the mouse button and the file comes up asking if you are sure that you want to delete it by moving file to Recycle bin.Just say yes and it goes. On the same menu it asks if you want to send to desktop. To do this you have to create a shortcut but I want transfer the file to another shortcut on the desk top. Which is already on the desktop. Can you drag and drop?

Open both files (not shortcuts) side by side, then 'drag and drop' the files across to where you want them.
