If it takes 100 men 100 hours to make 100 widgets, how long does it take to make a single widget?

Although actually the question is slightly ambiguous because it's not clear whether or not a widget is built by an individual or by a group of people. 100 hours would be true if each man worked alone; if they all had to work together to produce a widget then it would be 1 hour/widget; if, say, 10 people worked on making one widget then it would be 10 hours, and so on.

yes the assumption is that 1 man makes 1 widget. It's amazing how many people just can't get their head round it.
Then the question should have been rephrased to ask, "How long would it take ONE man to make a widget?"
Did they all have to time-share the widget jig ?

It's a very complicated thing that takes 100 hours to make.
