The Muslim elders say there's nothing in the Koran about wearing a beard, and it's just a matter if choice.

Well, I've learned something.

So, it's just teenage stroppiness.

And teenagers with straggly bum fluff beards look terrible.

It's a Roman Catholics school. Did the parents not notice the title before applying for a place?

It seems to be just another twist on a story we see every year. Pupils who don't want to wear the school uniform, have hair too long, or too short, or feel they can't abide with rules about wearing jewellery or make-up, are free to go to schools they find more congenial. I wonder how many do?
Like Rocky, I am some what puzzled why these Muslim boys are at a Catholic school ?
My kids school wouldn't put them in isolation, they would be sent home. And yes, it's an RC school.

"It's in their area and has good results." It might have the good results because it enforces certain regulations.
Teachers at yhe school have beards, so why aren't the pupils aloud them? Seems hypocritical.
My kids school has a very strict uniform policy, you ignore it at your peril. I was picking my son up for an appointment one day when the office lady caught a girl with mascara and eye liner on, she was sent off to the toilets tout suite to wash it off. The woman scared me ;)
Teachers at the school have beards, so why aren't the pupils allowed them? Seems hypocritical.
Why are Muslim kids at a Roman Catholic School?

Because the tax payer funds the school. Which means they have to admit anyone regardless of faith.
Gromit....it is called discipline, an old fashioned term, but still in the dictionary and seriously omitted in today,s youth.

The rules of the school do not allow beards on the children, but they do allow beards for the teachers. It has nothing to do with hypocrisy it has to do with rules and obeying them.

Simple concept really.
Gromit, most faith schools are selective and the only way a person of non/another faith will get in is if there are places, or they've pretended to be of the faith. Barring 6th form, every child in my kids school would have had to have a priests reference to get in and competition is fierce, about 700 applications for 240 places.

Neither. Just more boat-rocking.
Yes, to get into primary school I had to produce the kids christening certificate. They automatically got a place in the upper school.
"The boys’ families were due to hold talks today with Muslim leaders and teachers at the school."

It should all be resolved soon then. If anyone knows about the imposition of strict rules and inflexibility it's 'Muslim leaders'. They'll surely see it from the schools point of view.

It is really off putting teaching a pupil with a beard, they seem to emit an air of authority that does not befit their actual age. I don't think any student, regardless of ethnic background, should have facial hair. Beards and school uniform are just not right some how.
I suspect, like some who chose to wear a veil, it's intended as an act of antagonism - and guess what......
