what do they honk of?
Sprinkle in ..liberally....baking powder and leave for 48 hours before shaking out...
Stay away from those fabric and air freshener sprays, I find they make them smell horrible of that then.

I make sure they are washed out with antibacterial hand gel/wash to make sure any bacteria out which may be causing a smell - if not a washable sole I tend to use a baby or face wipe with the gel on. I then dry them and stick on them on the windowsill to get some fresh air. I tend to have light fruit smelling body sprays about so use them sometimes too.

I find wearing shoes with bare feet can make shoes smell more.

Whiffy feet Woof, I can't imagine who's been borrowing my shoes!

Thanks Minty, I'll try the baking powder approach.
Use foot deodrant everyday, spray scholl stuff every night and put in insoles? Seems to be the easiest way to me.
Pour Bicarbonate of soda into them and leave overnight, tip out in the morning.
they must be getting wet and so you need something to draw the moisture out, if you have one of those silica gel moisture traps around the house scoop out a few of the capsules into a net or soft piece of fabris and push them into the shoe . leave for a while and then use the deodorising treatment or the bicarb
If I wear bare feet in some of my shoes I have to make sure the soles of my feet are particularly clean before I wear them :-)

They are not getting wet. I just don't understand why they are so much more whiffs than any other shoes.

I'll be trying the bicarb over the weekend.
Chuck 'em out.
Did you know that you can also bung some trainers in the washer Eccles?
open dustbin, drop shoes in, close the lid.
Don't forget to put the dustbin out for the binmen.

I hope you do realise that you'll have stinky smelling feet after wearing these pongy shoes.
they are gertting wet, sweat is a liquid formed when the body perspires.
The clue is in one of your comments, Eccles. You say that you don't know why they whiff more than any other shoe. Obviously it's the type of shoe that is at fault if it doesn't happen with any other one. Maybe the rubber sole combined with the fabric is to blame. Dump them as I assume they weren't too expensive.
a leather insole and fabric upper? odd combination but Toms tend to do their own thing i guess

Thanks for all the ideas. I'll give the anti-bac whites a go as well as the bicarb.

Wearing socks isn't an option and I'm not throwing out a pair of £40 shoes until I've tried some of the suggested remedies. I'll have a look on the Toms website to see if putting them through the machine is an option.
The Toms website might have similar comments from other wearers!
Don't wear them day after day, have several pairs of shoes on the go and only wear them when you need to ie. not as slippers.. This gives them a chance to stay dry enough to prevent bacteria and fungi from thriving. Good for you good for your shoes.
