I honestly thought this post was going to get lost in Olympicmania.

Good to see others appreciate the brilliance of this physicist.
One of our greatest geniuses - will go down in our history books. RIP Sir.
Sir Bernard was one the the greats of astronomy and a real loss. He's one of those few people who can be termed a 'legend'.
A great man, great intelligence. Not many of the younger generation would know of him and his achievements. RIP
I have to admit that I thought he had gone some time ago.
A truly magnificent scientist. RIP Bernard. I met him a number of times and he had his own very pertinent ideas on the origin of life on Earth as well as on other planets.
