Botany - Trees in blossom.....

Why do trees such as apple blossom and cherry blossom provide their blossoms during April in Scotland, when they only last a short period of time due to winds, and there are few or no pollinators at this time of year? As I say, it's Scotland, and we have high winds at this time of year, pretty well guaranteed.

because the trees don't know they are in scotland.......
They are wind pollenated?
If they have fruit then they are getting something right.
They are triggered by day length to flower at a time it is likely insects will be available to pollinate them. A tree doesn't need much fruit to ensure it will continue itsself its only us that want lots of fruit... some fruit varieties have been bred in scotland and those should be more successful
woofgang, it is amazing how one can say so much with one simple sentence. My thought exactly.
