The question on coffee earlier reminded me of something I was told once and to this day I really don't know if it's true.

Plain English...........

Two people who are exactly the same make..One drinks say neat Vodka, the second has his Vodka with Orange juice. The guy with the Orange juice one (diluted!!) will get drunk quicker?

I was told that this is because the liver absorbs the goodness in the Orange Juice easier and the alcohol is 'taken with it'...Therefore you get drunk faster.....Is this correct?, must admit I was taken in sounds logical to me!

Thought it was due to the accelarated natural fermentation of the orange juice?? - just guessing i'm afraid though.
I don't know the scientific reason, but it is true that alcohol is absorbed faster if you add something to your drink: e.g. white wine and lemonade etc.

thanks, so there is some truth in it.

would they have to drink the drink in the same time period though?

A vodka and mixer would take longer to drink than a straight vodka, and so the straight vodka would get you drunk quicker as you would drink more of it

If it was carbonated it gets into the system quicker
