Are we having more earthquakes now than ever before?
I dont seem to remember earthquakes been in the news (as much as they are now) when I was younger.

There have always been cycles of seismic activity and we are seeing one at the minute.

We are far more aware of them now because of modern media There are also a lot more people and a lot more stuff to get destroyed.

The frequency and size is of the current cluster is well within the normal distribution of earthquakes experienced by the planet.

I agree with Beso. Today's media plays a great part on our earthquake awareness. And there also websites dedicated to monitoring earthquakes. I didn't know we had a 4.7 quake till it was reported in the news an hour later!
