But why would she leave a police station on a horse? That seems a tad surreal and I'm disappointed if that's the answer.

She was a friend of Robinson Crusoe .As old Robbie is on an island he did not hear about it until Thursay .So he says to his man servant .Friday old boy if you are doing nothing tomorrow would you mind being a good chap and going round to the jail and collect a friend of mine .Here is th bail money .So Friday nips pound and carries the lady home on his back ....
