the Ethranet connection port on my Dell inspiron 8100 is broken. i know i can buy an adaptor with an ethranet connection port on it but im not sure the name of the part. please advise.

Essentially you need a PCMCIA Network adapter (but make sure whoever you are asking knows that it needs to be wired and not wireless).
