Ebay Is So Stressful

People buy things and a week later want a refund. One customer bought a dress, wanted it for the weekend, and today has told me its not good quality and wants a refund (weekend is over). Where do i stand with this? I am fuming. Only doing ebay because i have silly load of debt and this it to pay it off. More stress than its worth! Ebay seem to stick up for buyers almost always!

Depends very much on the wording of your listing and the price she paid. It is a tricky one because as a private seller the goods must be described but things like quality are subjective.

Not sure what you mean by wanted it for the weekend. If the photos and description showed what they were getting then what grounds do they have to return. You can always call ebay (or they will call you back) and ask their advice. I have found them to be helpful phleb.

Always stick rigidly to ebay rules, they MUST return the item before getting a refund.
In your listing specify 'No return unless not as described or faulty'.
eBay are much better at listening to sellers complaints now, I find them to be very fair.

grasscarp It is a well known trick, someone wants an item of clothing for a special event. So they buy it, wear it once and return it for a refund.
I have heard of people keeping all the packaging, labels, receipts etc then carefully re-packing an item so they can return it to the shop as unused.

Did you mention quality in your advert? Not good quality is not a good reason to return goods.

^^ So do I , if she is invited to a wedding for instance she buys a new dress, wears the dress to the wedding and then very carefully re-packs it and returns it for a refund, she has even done it with shoes and got away with it!

The last time I know my friend done it she took it to be dry cleaned before bringing it back. She then told the sales assistant that she bought it for a wedding but then found out that the bridesmaids were wearing the same. Cheeky.

I sold an electric hotplate on eBay. The buyer returned it after a week saying it was dirty, scratched and dented. It was perfect when I sent it still in the box. They had obviously used it , I complained to eBay and sent photos to prove my case. eBay supported me and warned the buyer, they do not always take the buyers side.

I saw on a TV series about Herrods that they employed Sniffers to smell returned clothing to ascertain if it had been worn.

I had a friend worked in a High Class Store, Ladies would often take armfuls of items on 'approval' and return the lot as 'not to Madam's taste'.

The store employed a photographer to attend local functions,weddings etc.

When Madam got her next monthly account with the items added and a snapshot attached , they always paid up and came to collect their new outfit which had been put by for them - 9 times out of 10 claiming an oversight.
