Spaces in the hedge.

I've just spent two weeks severely cutting back a hedge of hawthorn and blackthorn.
It is now mainly 'young trees' with not a lot of growth low down. I would like some hedging to fill in the gaps between what I have left. They do not need to grow high but rather quickly as the hedge is between me and a public footpath. Many thanks folks.

Need to kill off a lilac tree permanently....any tips?

Just keep the hight of the hedge cut low and it will naturally grow out lower down and fill the gaps. If you have very large gaps then just buy some more blackthorn or Hawthorn to fill in.

Many thanks for your suggestion. That seems the best solution. Off to the hedging sites now!

Make sure you get bare root plants and get them in soon - much cheaper than pot grown. You probably got until the end of March, but the sooner the better.

Hedge plants are best 8 inches apart so where you have a 16 inch gap put another plant in.
