Technically, for those who dont get 'it' the Isle of Bute is indeed an island and the main town is Rothesay.
It was a popular holiday desination during the Glasgow Fair (trade fortnight) when people used to get on a steamer down the Clyde.Happy days indeed -I even went on a school day trip there.............bet its just a jaded old town now:(
I'll watch it tho Kate as there was a prog on for the isle of Arran last week and theres money there-lovely island:)
i stayed up near the golf course, ascog is lovely but a bit expensive, there has been a new pier built and lots of houses along the prom have been knocked down and rebuilt,it is a beatiful place and i see it differantly now i moved away.
This would be about 19 years ago - I think most of the houses were part of the Mount Stuart estate. My friend worked there as a gardener and lived in a tied cottage, it was always lovely to be able to get down for a visit, but I've not been back in years. Not since he got fired for telling Lady Bute to F off :)
