So its my boyfriends 30th birthday in January and I wanted to do something really special for him as he's had a really crap year this year. I asked him if he would like to go away somewhere and he said he fancied going to Scotland. I like Scotland (but in all honesty we live up noth anyway so could go whenever we liked), but wanted to make it an exciting and memorable experience so I have booked 4 nights in New York (he's never been). He won't even know about it until we get to the Airport. From a guys angle (and girls) what would you think when you found out that you weren't going to Scotland?

But Doc is also old and grumpy :-)) xx

I think he'd love it..
New York is fabulous G1, he will be thrilled with it I am sure
Always nice to be going somwhere where they speak English, doncha think?
the whole feeling of the big apple is great blondie, so much to see and do, he's a luck fella
<lucky>
Oi Stewey - we speak english in Scotland.....well sort of! lol

I think it depends on him really. Why did he want to come to Scotland? If it was for the peace and quiet and scenery and relaxing in country pubs and walking in the hills, then New York is going to be a very different sort of holiday!

We are probably more a country than city family, but having said that I know that I would enjoy going to some citys for a few days but not really into shopping so more sightseeing would be good.
Won't he need to apply for a visa?
not for a 4 day visit craft
Oh right boobi...............can you tell I've never been to the US?
we went in 2002 and just did the normal booking via a travel agent, I would love to go back
Mark we didn't have to do any of that x
you will both need to fill in the esta forms, and i hope youve checked his passport :)
That was then, this is now...
arhh ok, I stand corrected Mark ;-)

I think New York sounds fabulous but that said, if he's already stated he wants to go to scotland and it's a trip especially for him, then maybe you should go there... Although I can't really see anyone complaining about a holiday as a present :c)
