No. I think it's an insensitive decision of the planning committee, and the Muslims to want to build a Mosque there. Also I think it will be an easy hideout for Muslim terrorist; they would be closer to the financial district of New York and it would be easier for them to access buildings which they may want to target if they so wish.
Yes, most definitely.

The steel recovered from the twin towers has been melted down and will be used to build the mosque. That's good for the environment.
I think to the people who lost someone it will be rubbing salt into the wound.
If that is true thomas then I cannot think of anything worse to use the recycled steel for. Use it by all means but not to build a mosque.
Yes, let them build it so somebody can burn it down.
If they turned it into cars, would you ban Muslims from driving them?
only Muslims who force their wives to wear burqas, Thomas. The rest are ok.

Thomas if it was in cars no one would be any the wiser. In a mosque everyone would know.
Why would everyone know it was in the mosque? It could be covered up.
Because you have said that is where the recycled steel is going to be used
It will be for Muslim eyes only, westerners won't be allowed to see it.
It wasn't the muslims or Islam that caused the trouble, it was Al Qaeda, a terrorist group. People should be allowed to worship who they like, although I think it should be a personal and private thing and not try to force others into believing it. While I do believe we should keep an eye on the spreading of Islam, there is no reason why they should not build a mosque wherever they like.
They are wanting to build a Muslim cultural centre in that building, only part of it will be a mosque, the rest of it will be conference centres, restaurants, etc. As President Obama said publicly yesterday, the US is not at war with the Muslim faith, the 9-11 atrocities were undertaken by Al Quaeda who are a small extremist group of people, they are not the same as the Muslim rank and file. I don't have strong feelings either way, but there are thousands of Muslims in the US and they can't all be tarred with the same brush. I understand the sensitivities, but just how far away from Ground Zero would the objectors find this new Centre acceptable? A properly organised and managed Centre with mosque would be far less likely to fuel insurgency that a back-room meeting room where nobody is keeping an eye on activities. The US will never forget and probably most will never forgive, but there is a huge peaceable Muslim presence in the US who need facilities to meet and pray - they have to do it somewhere. This may not be 100% the right place, but where would be? It would be a great step in the right direction to say we are nine years on, what's done is done, let's try to understand each other and try to avoid anything as dreadful as this ever happening again.

Not correct, anyone can go into most mosques, and many Westerners are Muslim, either by birth or by conversation. I know many of both, UK and US citizens.
