'THREE GRACES' by Rustic.

My third EV (a newbie). Looks - for me - rather solvable as I now own the aides required!

I assume my 2nd edition of ODQ has the required answer(s).

Good luck to all! and God bless happy easter.

Welcome Tweaker to the crazy world of EV, this weeks was well rounded and you should get to the bottom of it quite quickly. I can't comment on the quote being in ODQ 2, but it is in my 3rd edition iof the concise ODQ, and definitely in the current edition of ODQ.
Sorry for butting in. Certainly an easy enough grid fill, but the final twist might give a pause for thought. Happer Easter indeed.

Thanks guys.

Lots of chocolate egg's to consume today !!!!
And here I was expecting some sort of Easter theme.... I guess not. I suppose I should also make some sort of pun here but I don't want to make a...... uh, donkey out of myself.

Happy Easter to all.
Doh; why does my search never come up with the threads....

Hi Jogler, the grid is the way to go on 9d. It should be (3). Likewise 1dn should be (9).
^^ - didn't even notice that one turnerjmw!

How about an anagram of: Her yeast infection with an endless unknown Papy! - (5,6)
Hi everybody and welcome to Tweaker. I'm afraid I'm banging my head against a brick wall here with variations B and C. I'm assuming I have the right word to written beneath the grid and I suspect that variations C are anagrams of the last four letters of that word but I'm totally flummoxed otherwise. I shall now go and review the situation in the light of the hints given thus far.
It looks as if you are on the right lines with variation C. The second variation was our last also, and was a little more tricksy.
Happy Easter to all N & C'ers and a warm welcome to tweaker. With the exception of a couple, especially 26a & 34d, I have (amazingly quickly) managed the general clues but, am having great trouble with the variations. I think I have called the right bits of brain together to get V A, but the others are definately not springing to mind. Am I wrong to pursue the mythological route because I can see no rhyme nor reason to the word added to the three clues.
Can't believe it...................................won the FG Xword again 2 weeks ago!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Dd on the FG (intriguingly the only abbr of this we know is famous grouse....). The a, b and c variations produce parts of the word, as you will have surmised, and I obtained the word by taking variation A plus variation C (an anagram as has already been discussed) and plugging them into the Onelook dictionary search with a * in between. I know this is a bit of a bum steer as you have to try various interations of the anagram - but hopefully you will come across a really wonderful word that probably came to the mind of the Duke of Bedford when he visited Canova's studio - or maybe not - his mind might have been on far higher planes than that of my beloved!
Thank you jogler, had forgotten them as in W A, will try again..............tomorrow. FG in this household is the Farmers Guardian your FG is known as the bird!
Many congratullations on your FG win Devadolly. I used to that for a guy I know before he moved. It taught be a lot about various forms of agriculture.

As far as this week's offering is concerned I'm afraid I'm no further forward I have the word to written under the grid and know which letter has to be written curvaciously in lower case in the augmented entries Thank you for confirmation on Variation C Jogler.
Variations B are still proving very ( I was tempted to change the first letter ) elusive because the three letters pointing to them aren't ringing any bells as yet and neither are the references to a quotation in the above hints. Any pointers would be most appreciated.
Novalis: There is a sense in which Var B is ithe same as Var A (I don't think I'm giving anything away at this point by observing that Var A is "synonyms"). But, the 3-letter word in the middle of the longer word has been modified in a certain way. Its 3 "variations" are all modified in the same way before grid entry.
Hello Novalis,
20a is probably the antithesis of what a cat would do in relation to Variation B, (after they have been adjusted a bit)! 8d gves all the letters, but in the adjusted form corresponding to the part of the word to be entered below the grid!

In Japan, many of the toilets are not only part of the plumbing system, they are also wired into the electrical system. Frequently there is a sign similar to the lower case letter that needs to be entered curvaceously. When this button is pushed the fact that the toilet is "wired in" electrically reduces the thermal shock! There is also frequently another button that has the pictogram of lower half of a stick lady wearing a skirt, no more needs to be said!
Additionally, when you sit on a Japanese toilet water starts flowing into the bowl! This is so Japanese ladies are not embarassed by the thought of anyone hearing what they are doing!
It would appear from a different post by Tweaker that he/she is not as far along the route to solution that was implied by the start to this thread.

Hope everyone has had a pleasant Easter break, here on the South Coast the weather was glorious saturday, rainy sunday and glorious again today, we had some 23a (Sam Wellerish) pleasant walks along the seafront in the sunshine. Plus sitting on the patio at 17.00ish with some preprandials!
Many thanks dr b and Doc HH. I'd realised what had happened in 8d but - fool that I am - even after making a backwards adjustment to the middle three letters of the key word I'd neglected to look it up in the "red brick"!!

At least now I can listen to the Newcastle vs Sheffield United match in peace now without letting my mind drift back to EV. Premiership here we come. As Forest are still level with Cardiff we could be promoted in 20 minutes. Spurs for the Cup Doc HH or can they take that fourth place in the Premiership?
Novalis,
Glad to have helped to allowed you to enjoy the match, without distraction. I'm not really a Spurs supporter, just went to school in White Hart Lane, and enjoyed early afternoon releases when they played weekday matches, which sort of makes me follow their fortunes. Herself's future nephew-in-law, if there is such a relative, is an avid Spurs supporter. He has refused his beloved's desire that he wears a red ("the North London enemy") waistcoat. On the other hand after this weekends performance Spurs ability to get back into the first 4 and/or win the cup is questionable!
A belated Happy Easter to all and what a beautiful weekend it was!
Once again I seem to be last, I guess it is just my lot to bring up the rear.
Still all's well that ends well.
No Andrew G-S you are not the last! You have been very quiet DocHH, was getting quite worried about you! Delighted to hear you cahtting again. Do I detect there are different EV threads about this week.......I found it quite easily by typing in EV 909 and there you all were. Axs to the Variations, I am just (obviously) being totally thick, bnecause I have got a gridful and still cannot get anywhere with the variations. As to the word, In cannot get away from the 11 letter word beginning C and ending E I have applied to the said 3 nubile females of the preamble. Help!
