(1d) I thought the answer should be partial, but the clue for 12a
is Go up to the summit of a mountain - 5 letters _ _ I _ B. The first letter of 12a is also the last letter of 1d. I think the answer to 12a is CLIMB, which would give a C for the last letter in 1d.

Jimby could this be another printing error. I too have
CLIMB and the B works in with a brace of pheasants.
I am also stuck with 30a d?r??s?s, I have googled
and used the one line dictionary but cannot come up
with anything.
Hope someone can help us Good luck
