Thanks to you both. i hate it when they lumber us with clues that have ambiguous answers and it is getting more frequent. I could also suggest laxness and fatness!

6 dn cents
7 dn disowned
pollythecat Sun 07/09/08 12:19
thanks. managed to work out disowned but brain not in gear enough to work out Cents. Obvious when you are told!!! Still not happy with 9ac. Could also be garnish but there is no logic behind any of them.

It has to be "VARNISH" as this is the only option that a couch potato would watch as in the expression "watching paint (or varnish) dry"
pollythecat Sun 07/09/08 12:40
Not sure I agree Lipsiot as Varnish isn't dull but Tarnish is
Galleyboots Sun 07/09/08 13:03
Could it be wanness?
jenbin Sun 07/09/08 16:06
I've got disowned by can't see why. Any clues? I think 9 ac is varnish - as in watching paint dry.

Just seen the postings. The answer I,m sure, is TARNISH.
The Oxford Dictionary definition "A film on exposed surface of a mineral or metal"
