PCs don't have shutdown buttons on keyboards or monitors

this is a "value add" from asus
have you loaded the "extra" custom utilities they provide?

shut-down restart facility is obtained by changing the sleep button on my logitec blue tooth divo keyboard options.it might be link to the asus function i don't know about that
as for the settings Neil, under advance power controls , it's all set to shut down not restart / stand by / or hibernate, thats why i can't understand what's wrong
cheers fellas
ignoring the extra buttons

what happens if you click "turn off computer" from the start menu
or from the task manager
and the command prompt
C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s

hi ac

i have to catch it restarting at quickly switch off at mains to shut it off

i don't have a "shut down exe" folder in system32
just a "shut down" folder which for around a 25th of a second flashes up a dos panel when clicked on too quick to read it
shutdown.exe is a 19kb file (not a folder) in the system32 folder the -s tells it what to do ... restart shutdown etc

so double clicking it won't do anything ....

you can either run the command from the run option ... or open a comand prompt and run it from there
but use the whole line
C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s
