Could someone please explain the answers to 12d & 7d. I'm pretty sure I have the right answers but they only seem to fit half the clue.
12d Shore bird caught in long grass R?U?H
7d Freedom from danger in crazy feats, close to forty S?F?T?

Thanks

7d is safety anagram of feats + last letter of forty.

A ruff is a shore bird (wader) and caught in the long grass in Golf is being in the Rough, so I guess Rough is the answer

12d A RUFF is a bid that lives near the shore.

Caught is a "sounds like" indicator - as in "do you catch my drift".

I think Mazie is correct except 'caught' means heard - RUFF is heard as Rough.
